Hi Everyone another year has gone by and we are stepping forward and could do with some help.

We have at last our hangar, but have work to be done. Anyone who has contacts with a roofer or concrete layer please let us know. We need painters as well.

We have had 2 good donations from the Stevenson Trust and the Pikes Point Trust, and the Pegasus Flying Trust ATC truely appreciate their support as we do also from TOPHALF Airconditioning sponsor us with re location funding for the units of Auckland to relocate the Grob at no cost to the ATC Squadrons.

No 40 SQN engineering RNZAF have done a fabulous job on our ground engineering trainer.I wish to note it is borrowed from the Trust to allow them to use it for their "School to the Skies" The Trust is very pround to be able to support them with a airframe trainer and it is next due to be used at OHAKEA for young interested course students.

Our Grob was relocated yesterday from Matamata to Auckland,(a very bad storm is on the way)being a bit challenging with the many rain showers encountered on the way home.

We had a very challenging year having been grounded due to weather for almost 6 months.Having had the grob on the ground has been expensive as water entry cost a lot having had to replace the transponder,the radio etc,but we hope this is all behind now with a fixed location in a hanger.The Trust would like volunteers to join our team as more hands will really help.

You dont need to be a pilot but just be a handy person will be most useful.

We have 1 Committee meeting a month at the Howick RSA.

This is the hanger for us.It is to be relocated over to the Checker Building on the left of the picture. We wait. Our cost of repairs has been very large this year as we did not intend to have the Grob outside so long. New Radio new Transponder new covers all due to the very wet Winter.

Below is last years National NZCF Gliding Course at Matamata in December teaching 20 cadets to SOLO standard where the Pegasus Flying Trust support this activity.

Well it has been a long time since we added some more with," where are we and what is going on.

As you can see in the photo No 40 SQN RNZAF 757 put in a appearance and all the cadets became so motivated, "I want to fly that Sir"or WOW thats huge!!

By being on the AirForce Base Auckland gives all these want to be aviators a oportunity to see our Air Force in action.

We have been operating from Whenuapai since many of the cadets wanted the Grob closer as it was easier for the Units to get to, however we have done some flying with other units down in the Waikato.Morrinsville,Hamilton Rotorua.

A bit of a cross country and a early morning start was a joy to fly it down to the out of town cadets.

We got well recieved and thanks to the Matamata District Council for allowing us to stage there for 3 weeks.

It was great to bring the Grob to the cadets as many had never flown let alone flown in a "Motor Glider" before.

The Trust is still working hard to secure some funding, but this is very hard as attitudes towards "flying" is treated like weathy persons thing,these people dont realise this is the start and intrest to aviation,so if anyone who reads this and can assist, please leave a contact on our contacts page.

Hi Everyone, we headed south of Auckland for a support camp for 5 Squadron. Well we made a couple of attempts,the first one stopped us with weather on the way, followed by another attempt the next day. Ahhhhh! alas a again radio fault forcing us to return back to the airfield.

Our engineer soon sorted the radio and away we went again !!!!

The Grob got to Matamata in 45 minutes,not bad. Sadly the next day saw "RAIN" and a washout,thus no flying.

We kept the Grob at Matamata that week which did work out well. We(our Instructor Rob Owens) used it for an hour flying important personnel for the ATC National Gliding Course, who had come down to the course to see how the ATC carried out flight training.

We got a pretty impressive amount of support and Thanks towards the Pegasus Flying Trust.

The acting Cadet Forces Commandant finally got a chance to view the Grob at last. He was pretty impressed in what he saw especially , as he has heard quite a bit about it, in a positive way .

"Cadets all over" gliding and a big HELLO from a ex cadet of 2012 flew overhead from the CTC Training Company telling us he was a ex cadet now flying for a living and wished all those cadets Good Luck-So Cool Thanks.

It was a great week for Cadet Forces Gliding,seeing 4 cadets go solo of the 20 on the course. Bear in mind this is a aviation training course and any solos are a bonus. See the wet looking Pilots (ATC Cadets) with big smiles, the joy we get seeing them reach their first dream GOING SOLO>

The course has funding for the First Time for cadets. I understand a big Thanks to AIR NZ and the Aeronautical Society NZ have come to the party to sponsor the ATC National Gliding Course. Cadets from all over NZ participated- Well Done!!!!! Thanks to the Top People in the Aviation industry of NZ below photo.

Well the team were hard at it fund raising the old fashion way, you bet !!!! sausage sissles. A couple of cadets and a few parents and officers at the local netball courts.

Sure was hard work, but good PR I am sure.

The Trust is still filling in lots of applications for funding and we hope for a win! fingers crossed.

Weather hasnt been good,rain,too windy and wet airfields, but, we are looking forward to Spring/Summer arent we all, no more "BLUES".

We gained a new Sponsor who assisting us with the ferry costs of the motor glider, to reposition it for the various Cadet Units to use arround Auckland, which saves the cadets this operational cost.

Well its been a while since we last updated the progress of GNW. Cadets from 5, 6, 30 and 40 Squadron ATC have been enjoying gliding at different areas of Auckland.

We have not been short of a few aviation technical problems requiring us to fly back and forth to Ardmore Airport to get some transponder issues resolved.

Thanks to Ardmore Airport for your assistance in helping us with a space to park the Grob.

30 Squadron carried out their annual Flying camp at Base Auckland,where cadets flew in powered aircraft and our Motor Glider with much help from the Aviation Sports Club and our resident Grob Pilot Peter Thorpe,Thanks Peter.

This weekend saw the Grob at Ardmore Airport assisting 40 Squadron ATC with their Flying Camp,where the cadets had a choice of aircraft to fly.It was good to see cadets flying helicopters,doing some cross country navigation,gliding at the Auckland Gliding Club and experiancing the Motor Glider.

A lot of happy faces and appreciation.

Again big thanks to the Ardmore Airport for assisting us to fly GNW fom your airfield. There were a lot of power pilots scratching their heads when we entered the circuit and landed in such a short distance.

No 5 Squadron ATC on the Northshore spent an amazing day flying. Rob owens and Peter Thorpe ferried GNW up to base Whenuapai the home of the ASC Gliding section from Ardmore. we couldnt have flown it on a better day.

Sunday saw 8 cadets from No5 Squadron ATC having air experiance flights with Peter,the Squadron was thrilled as it has been a long time waiting while the Pegasus Flying Trust had the Grob fully refurbished for the ATC to use.

Peter said our Grob sounded great and flew very well. Smiles all round and thanks ASC Gliding Section for your help and support with the Trust and cadets.

Well at last we are back in the air after a few issues(technical)

Last weekend saw the Grob and two of the instructors head away from Ardmore to Whenuapai Airfield for some circuits and checks. It was a great day and the ASC were most welcoming,all of them are looking forward to the Cadets using the glider.

29 minutes later and we were in the circuit at Ardmore. Big thanks from the Ardmore Airport Company who have been so supportive to the Trust and Cadets. We have it currently parked there for repositioning.

Next weekend No40 SQN ATC will have a flying Camp at Auckland Gliding Club and the Grob will be used by the cadets.

The following weekend No6 SQN at WP and on Sunday we have the Grob on display at the Warbirds Flying Display for the Air Cadets to use for their cadet recruiting, so come along and have a look.

Well the weather forecast was again not true to the weather and what a great day it was.!!!!!

The Warbirds put on a great day with that magic noise of the Spitfire and P51 and of course the jets just added to the noise of the Day!!

We had a lot of interest in the ATC and of course the Grob 109. So many good comments from the public and the cadets cant wait till their Squadrons gliding roster day.

All going to plan, we will be relocating the Grob to Whenuapai, as we have at last got the new UV wing covers. Ardmore Airport have been so helpful and accomodating to the Pegasus Flying Trust,allowing us to position GNW, while we have been carrying out Famil training.... a BIG thanks to them.

This was the Day!!!!!.... 1200 23rd August 2014 we had been waiting for. In its new livery of the Air Training Corps it took off from Auckland Gliding Clubs base Drury... 17 minutes later... all was good

back on the ground handling test done and loads of smiles..the dream has come true.....

Just a few little issues,but we expected these. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since we started on this project with the aircraft owner, almost 1 year ago and a few people wondering if we would complete it.

Though we are back in the air,we still need to fund our wish list to improve GNW, as we set out with the many requests for funding and or for sponsors to make the upgrades and improvements we need for the Cadets and of course purchase this aircraft for the Pegasus Flying Trust..its future for cadets to use..

Thanks to the RNZAFA Northshore Branch for your donation, this really helps and we hope to get more to assist these young cadets to learn more about flying.

Another week and we think all being equal, we have the Grob at the airfield with the wings on and looking like a new one and I can tell you,the Team is proud and the Cadets are going to love it.

The glider is dressed in its new colours with Air Training Corps and the Pegasus Flying Trust on it......looks good.

Lets hope for better weather to get the test flight done.

Well it is confirmed we are GO!! and waiting for the test flight. All going well it will be Saturday 23rd August at Drury Airfield

We are looking ahead at a T hangar for NW and have now got a set of plans to get some pricing confirmed...looks good and is treated as a temp structure,so we have a bit of work to sort things we would sure like to hear from someone....Can anyone help us.?
